Room Air Conditioner
Do you have difficulty sleeping at night because of the summer heat? Do you live in an older home that doesn’t have central air? If you answered yes to either one of these questions, you might want to consider a room air conditioner.
Air conditioning cools a room in the same manner a refrigerator cools food. There are quite a few air conditioning units on the market. These units have various prices and cooling capacities.
A room air conditioner helps reduce humidity that is present in the air. At the same time it helps to maintain air quality. Older units would actually dry out the air without cooling it.
Most units are composed of an evaporator, compressor, and condenser. An internal chemical converts liquid into gas. Most units manufactured today use a split system or package system.
A split system places the evaporator inside the room. The compressor and condenser on the other hand are placed outside the room. A package system is just how it sounds. All components are packaged together and placed outside the room.
Most hotels have a room air conditioner unit. You have probably noticed them when you have been on vacation. I remember going to Disney World as a kid and I thought I was dying in that hot, humid Florida weather! Each day when we would go back to the hotel I would stand in front of the air conditioner for a quick cool down.
Imagine a world without air conditioning. No one would be able to function! While central units can cost upwards of $2,000 or more, a room air conditioner can be purchased for a fraction of the cost.
Another advantage to these units is their mobility. They can be transferred from room to room. This capability allows them to be moved throughout your home as needed.
Look for air conditioning units at your local retailer.
