Take another look at those windows. In our home we have a lot of windows that allow natural sunlight to heat our home. We have sheer curtains which we open during the winter to allow sunlight in, thus cutting our heating costs.
Look at those trees outside. Could overgrowth be blocking sunlight from reaching your home? Keep those trees pruned! Make sure to keep your windows closed during the winter. Air escape will drive up heating costs very quickly. However, be sure to open windows and air out your home every couple of days. This allows release of harmful toxins.
Finally, look for cracks around window frames. You can purchase sealant or putty at home improvement or hardware stores. Weather stripping your window frames is another effective way to reduce heating costs.
